Jail-Based Competency Restoration Fiscal Year 2023 Status Report

In FY 2023, the Jail Based Competency Restoration (JBCR) Program saw tremendous growth in program expansion and in extending services to justice-involved individuals located in the Harris County Jail. The increase in services, personnel, and programming was made possible by increased state and county funding following programmatic successes in the previous fiscal years.

Commissioner Adrian Garcia and The Harris Center recently celebrated the opening of the Access2Health Smart Pod in Precinct 2. In partnership with Catholic Charities, the Smart Pod located at the North East community center will be bringing mental health services to the community.

We had a great turnout at the vaccine clinics over the past month. Through a partnership with Randalls and the University of Houston College of Medicine, we administered almost 400 vaccines to our clients.
