Emotional Support Text Line

Before using this service, please read the following information. You may contact The Harris Center 24 hours a day by phone at 713-970-7000. The Emotional Support Text Line number is 832-479-2135. Agents will respond as available.

If you are in crisis and can only communicate via text, please text 988 for the 988 Suicide and Crisis LifeLine.

Using the text line is not a replacement for ongoing mental health treatment and is not able to assist in crisis situations.

Text responders will provide basic support and community referral information.  It is your decision to determine what to do with that information once it is provided.

We take your privacy and security very seriously. Security controls, including encryption and authentication, are in place to ensure the protection of your information. Despite these protections, SMS remains an imperfectly secure environment, and The Harris Center Text Line cannot guarantee protection from intruders or interceptors. Your text message may be stored on the servers of telecommunications providers.  Unauthorized individuals may access your text messages if there is a breach of the telecom providers’ servers.

If your mobile device is lost, stolen, or recycled, unauthorized persons may access your text messages.

If you tell us that you are at immediate risk of harming yourself or someone else we will attempt to provide you immediate support.

By engaging in a text conversation with a text responder with The Harris Center you are acknowledging that you understand this information.

You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by texting STOP.
